Global Policy Summit Report and Proceedings Available for Download

Report and Proceedings of the Global Policy Summit held in November 2003 are available free for download. This meeting was organized by the IRCC members in conjunction with the National Research Council, USA and co sponsored by the National Science Foundation*, USA, Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB), National Research Council (NRC), Canada and the International Code Council (ICC), USA.

This summit brought together participants from a variety of areas including academia, research, regulatory, practitioners, industry and professional associations. The focus was upon building regulations in the context of performance codes and also issues concerning the public today such as terrorism, multi-hazards, moisture and mold, energy efficiency, sustainability, security, accessibility and building life cycle. The report provides an overall summary of the meeting and conclusions drawn based upon the presentation of papers and associated plenary sessions. The summit was an excellent opportunity to discuss broad international regulatory and social concerns as it relates to built environment and associated regulations. It was a unique opportunity and the organizers highly recommend review of the report and associated proceedings.
